When you hear the words 'freeze dried' or 'dehydrated' food and immediately recoil in horror? Well, those days are over thanks to the creators of Firepot Food.
Firepot Food recipes have been developed over months of tweaking, experimenting with flavour combinations and trying out different ingredients to maximise nutrition, not just taste. They’ve taken each ingredient and worked out how to ensure it arrives in your bowl just as it would in your own kitchen — delicious, perfectly cooked, with its nutritional integrity intact.
So not only does it taste good, but it’s exactly what you need to fuel any adventure.
Typically, the ingredients of a freeze-dried meal are dried separately and mixed together by the producer, so the only time the flavours actually meet is in the pouch when you add water. This means the taste feels like it's 'missing something'.
Firepot Food don't do that, they take a little extra time, slow cooking their recipes and their food benefits from a lot more flavour than you could imagine getting from a dehydrated meal. The Firepot Food range is also not freeze dried. Instead it is slowly dehydrated to remove the moisture, whilst retaining the flavour and texture of the meal.
Additionally unlike many other brands, the recipes are not full of flavourings or preservatives and E numbers and they never use palm oil. You’ll recognise all the ingredients from your own kitchen cupboard.
These delicious, nutritious, dehydrated slow-cooked meals are lightweight, quick and easy to use - and a range suitable for adventurers with specific dietary requirements.
Available in multiple meal types, two sizes and two types of packaging.
You can choose from the standard cook-in-the-pouch bag or the compostable bag - made from bio-based sources designed to disintegrate within a year. The only potential downside at the moment is, that until they manage to develop a cook-in-the-pouch version of this you'll have to cook your meal in your pot on the stove or in your flask. Not a big deal when you're saving the planet!
May take longer to rehydrate at higher altitudes. Do not get compostable pouch wet.
